Fire Alarm

Smith College’s new 15,000-square-foot Kathleen McCartney Hall serves as the home for career and leadership development. The building features energy-efficient design, flexible classrooms and collaborative meeting spaces.

Collins Electric provided electrical, low-voltage and fire alarm system installations for this project. We designed, installed, programmed and commissioned an Autocall 4100ES fire alarm system with voice evacuation capabilities, along with a Keltron radio box for seamless communication with campus safety.

The system was commissioned smoothly and is designed for easy future modifications. Our electrical, low-voltage and fire alarm teams worked in close coordination to ensure successful installation and integration.

Powdermill Village in Westfield includes 250 apartment homes and townhouses. Previously, 12 separate systems used radio boxes for fire department monitoring. The town required removal of all radio boxes and conversion to a new monitoring method.

Our Collins Electric team removed the radio boxes and transitioned each system to cellular monitoring through our central station. We also began performing annual testing and maintenance.

Powdermill Village now meets compliance requirements, and our proactive maintenance has significantly reduced service calls.

Smith College’s 150-year-old campus includes over 100 buildings with diverse fire alarm systems. Effective monitoring is critical to protect lives and property.

Collins Electric installed and maintains a campus-wide Keltron radio network that provides detailed, real-time alerts to campus safety. Recently, we upgraded the primary and secondary Keltron servers to ensure long-term reliability.

Smith College’s campus safety team can now quickly identify and respond to issues across campus.

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke provides compassionate, high-quality inpatient and outpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment for teens, adults and seniors. Collins Electric was selected for electrical work during construction of this 123,230-square-foot facility, a joint venture between Baystate Health and Lifepoint Behavioral Health.

We handled the electrical, low-voltage and high-voltage work, and designed, installed, programmed and commissioned a new Autocall 4100ES fire alarm system with voice evacuation.

Opened in 2023, Valley Springs Hospital meets an urgent regional need for quality mental health and addiction care in a safe setting featuring best-in-class fire alarms.
